This data set represents the jurisdictional boundary of the MRGCD as described in Volume III Section IV (Property to Be Benefited) of the Official Plan of the Middle Rio Grande Conservancy District (MRGCD), dated May, 1928.
The MRGCD embraces the lands within this boundary in the Counties of Sandoval, Bernalillo, Valencia and Socorro, New Mexico included within the description contained in the Order of the Court dated August 26, 1925, as restricted by the Act of March 11, 1927, known as the Conservancy Act of New Mexico.
Property to Be Benefited comprises all property of any kind subject to benefit due to the execution of the Plan. Until the Property to Be Benefited within the District was more exactly determined by the Board of Appraisers as provided by the Conservancy Act., it was considered that all property except for certain portions specifically described in Section III of the Plan fall within this boundary.
This data set describes a general jurisdictional boundary that is based on the Public Land Survey System (PLSS) and extends this description of Township, Range and Section through the areas of the Rio Grande valley that falls within land grants.
There are known, minor errors that exist in the dataset.
